Garnier Nutrisse
Davina McCall, her mother, hair dye and the immortal line "Nutrisse means nourish!".

"No it fucking doesn't!" I shout at the TV.

My flatmate looks dubious: "I think it's French..."

I pass him my French dictionary. Nutrisse is not to be found nestled between nuque and nutritif.

"Italian...?" he falters. The current-ex, who is half-Italian, firmly shakes his head in rebuttal.

"Well, it can't be German, so what is it?" asks the increasingly-bewildered flatmate, reaching for his laptop and the help of Uncle Google.

IT'S A FUCKING MADE UP WORD, THAT'S WHAT. And I think it means "shit brown hair dye". Because you're worthless.

Marketing trying to make hair dye/shampoo sound important
They used to talk about "active free radicals". I remamber from my A Level chemistry 14 years ago that free radicals are elements that have lost an electron and are quite dangerous.

Can I get confirmation on this? Is there a chemist in the house?

Yeah...
Oxygen free radicals are one of the major causes of damage to DNA (and thus the aging process, in theory).

Amen!
One chemist in the house.

Yes free radicals can be dangerous. But, as you say, they only exist for minuscule periods of time since they are so reactive. I've also never really been convinced that anti-oxidants are the cure to free radicals.

edit - Damn you Kaol and your quick posting skillz

It's ok Al
I don't understand them from a chemistry point of view, I'm a biologist.

Gooooooooo SCIENCE!
*Hi-fives everyone who know what a free radical is*

I like them
because they are called radicals. It gives them a suitably early 90's, like totally excellent dude, Bill and Ted style vibe.
(, Tue 6 May 2008, 12:06, closed)
yes
but they also make me think of those bags of shoite one hit wonders that were the new radicals
(, Tue 6 May 2008, 12:15, closed)
@al
Yeah, I've often wondered about that too. Surely by the time all those antioxidants get into your gut, they're digested into something completely different.
(, Tue 6 May 2008, 12:18, closed)
Hmmmm
yes, I had forgotten about them. Sadly now I have:

"Don't! Let! Go! you got the music with you Just! Forget! you only get what you give! HAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!"
(, Tue 6 May 2008, 12:18, closed)
Ah, yes
...as in "You Only Get What You Give"?

/coat

Sorry, mathematician!

Is Davina's mum
in her head? Seriously.
(, Tue 6 May 2008, 12:40, closed)
The Mum is made up too!
In real life, Davina doesnt get on with her Mum and they dont even speak.

So... she must be talking to HERSELF!!!!

Just like Norman Bates...
