I have a George Forman 'Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine', fantastic thing that it is.
The only problem is cleaning out the little tray where all the fat (that would otherwise have stayed in your food) accumulates.
I mean, really. Scraping off layer after layer of squelchy white animal fat. It makes me want to vomit.
Theoretically, I should become veggie.

Let it cool.
Lift the foil out.
Put it out for the birds.

is excellent thinking
another tip for cleaning the grill itself
once finished cooking, get a couple of sheets of soaking wet kitchen roll and lay them flat between the plates while still hot and close the grill.
this will steam the gunk off meaning you can wipe it clean with ease

To clean the grill itself I just wipe it down with a damp cloth while it's still hot.
But yes, tin foil. Never thought of that.

I wanted one for ages.
After a couple of uses, I bought myself a griddle pan instead.
Does the same thing, the food looks better (not squashed and dry) and is a doddle to clean.
Oh, but you do have to turn the food over yourself.

Surely the fact the plate is not removable is a design fault?

I put my my grill in the bin before using it. The fat drips directly into the waste.

something come out of my george foreman anything other than succulent and delicious.
I suspect that if it is flat and dry then you are doing something strange like sitting on it and leaving it to cook for far far too long....
and the new ones come with removable plates
