Protest!
Sit-ins. Walk-outs. Smashing up the headquarters of a major political party. Chaining yourself to the railings outside your local sweet shop because they changed Marathons to Snickers. How have you stuck it to The Man?

I see your point
But in all honesty-it was still bloody funny. Though something less mainstream would have been good-bit of levellers for example. Of course, there'll now be several irritating copycats for the next few years, which might get a little grating.

I heard...
This year it's to be "Surfin' Bird" Family guy version.
Shame. If it were the Cramps version I'd have been right behind it again!

See I'm torn...
...I absolutely LOVE the trolling effect of 4'33" as Xmas No.1, but I cannot bear to consider most of the works of John Cage (4'33" included) under the title of "Music".
Art maybe...but not music.

I have a friend
that used to record classical music for a living and he was tasked with recording this. They hired a studio (I don't know for how long, at least a day though), a piano, a professional pianist, they spent hours setting up microphones in just the right places and setting levels.
The biggest problem that they had was when authoring the CD, you see, a CD track has a length and that length is displayed on the display on the front of the CD player. It just happens that the time displayed is actually a second or so LONGER than the actual time of the track. They wanted the track to display as being exactly 04:33 and they wanted the track to be exactly 04:33 long, it was very difficult to achieve this.
I also just looked up and enjoyed this www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUJagb7hL0E
