Money-saving tips
I'm broke, you're broke, we're all broke. Even the smug guy on the balcony with the croissant hasn't got two AmEx gold cards to rub together these days. Tell everybody your schemes to save cash.

By that logic most people don't live in London either
or anywhere, or Liverpool or Rome cos Rotterdam is anywhere anywhere alone.

Most people live in urban areas.
Very few people live 40 miles from their nearest butcher.
If you don't believe me, look it up. Or here, let me do it for you:
www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2009/aug/18/percentage-population-living-cities
UK urban population: 90.1%

It is if you don't mind buying crap meat,
but it's not just about meat. Plenty of things are cheaper elsewhere, not just veg but also seafood.

Yeh and once you've travelled around everywhere and worked out time and fuel
You're probably better off sticking to your list at tesco. I don't know about the whole country but round here veg is cheap in tesco cos its all grown round here and fish is cheap because loads is caught round here. Fishmongers, green grocers and butchers can't compete. People are broke so they are going to shop at the cheapest place and thats the supermarket

Oh and Urban doesn't mean city
I live in the largest urban area in Cornwall, it's not a city and there's still fuck all cheaper than Aldi and Tesco

A google search reveals a total of 10 butchers in Redruth and Camborne
so I don't know how there is only one within 40 miles.

I never said there was only one butchers within 40 miles
I said my nearest city only had one butchers. I can also guarantee you that all 10 of them are more expensive than the supermarket.
I think its more accurate to say "don't shop at the supermarket, it might cost you a bit more overall but what you get isn't so shit."

well this is where it went off on a tangent, isn't it.
I never suggested everyone should go to a city to do their shopping. Monster Munch started by supposing I thought everyone should do their shopping in a village. I live in a suburban council estate and I still manage to get by without going into supermarkets.

That's it. Blame me for your poorly thought out, unworkable suggestion,
that's incompatible with many people's lifestyles/living conditions.

no I'm blaming you for your bizarre assumption
that non-supermarket food shops only exist in twee little villages.
I know it's workable, because I've personally been working it for the last five years, and I don't live in an especially unusual place. Granted it might not suit everybody (such as people who do live in unusual places), but it's a "money saving tip" not a fucking order. Get a grip you people. Jeez.

have you actually checked?
I can't argue with you about the fuel use if you have to drive to loads of different places, but that's Cornwall for you.

Yes, and there is are 3 butchers, a greengrocers, and a fishmongers within 5 minutes walk of our local tesco,
guess which one is loads cheaper. As for herbs and spices we have a Julian Graves and it costs a bomb.

hang on you said it was a 40 mile round trip,
you've lost me now. Can't help it if Redruth and Camborne are shit though. Move somewhere else if you don't like it, no point getting all grumpy at me.
