This is a question Schadenfreude

There's nothing like administering first aid to cyclist who has just spanged into the back of a milk float when you have tears of laughter running down your face. The world is just one long episode of You've Been Framed - when have you laughed at the misfortune of others?

With headphones on, you have a soundtrack to life
... and I was walking along the high street in Dalston (the arse of Hackney, itself the arse of Mordor) listening to Transglobal Underground on a beautiful summer morning.

I noticed up ahead of me a big, muscley chap striding down the street towards me, and a late teens/early twenties slip of a girl chasing after him, pawing at his arm, tears streaming down her face, and occassionally falling off her high heels. Every time she pawed at him, he shrugged it off aggressively.

This was understandably something of a spectacle for the street.

The scene continued for several tens of metres until, unable to contain himself any longer, he turned around and belted her full in the face with a hard clenched fist.

I have never seen what appeared to be a random array of people doing various activities become one mass so quickly, as about six guys pummelled him to the floor; his face already spurting claret before he even hit the deck.

Shadenfreude? Woman-hitting karma gonna kick yo ass about town, more like.

I cannot
Click 'I like this' enough times. Hitting females is the lowest of the low. Well I suppose hitting baby females might rank as slightly lower.

Recently found out that a friend has hit his missus, on more than one occasion. Our circle of friends, completely shocked as you can imagine, had to decide whether to batter him vigilante style or just never speak to him again.

Turns out we're not violent enough people to do the first so the second will have to do.

what
song was playing though when the punching started?!

i cannot imagine a song that could make that scene any better, duel of the fates would have been an astounding track to play over a girl-hitter getting his face laid all over the pavement

I think it was Psychic Karaoke
or Lookee Here.

as a female type myself
i feel i must point out that, if a woman has scratched and clawed a bloke's face partway off and kicked him repeatedly in the spuds, all because he had the audacity to ask why she was getting home at 3a.m, then he is fully justified in giving her a dig back.

I agree with this.
I'm a female type, been on the receiving end of some undeserved domestic violence, but also had full on knock em down fights with an ex and thoroughly deserved the punch.

Well I'm afraid I'm one of those irritating politically-correct types that thinks hitting a woman in any way is wrong.
I have been slapped a couple of times and once even hit with a bed post, and have walked away. Never came back, obviously, but walked away.

Obviously if it's the sexy kind that they actively ask me to do for sexy fun sexy times I'm more than happy to oblige, but violence? Absolutely no.

IMO there are certain times when you're justified in hitting anyone, including a woman,
but they only include things like self-defence or the protection of others. If a woman was about to attack my wife or son or to try and stab me/cause me serious harm etc. I'd happily kick fuck out of her if there was no other way to stop it.

However hitting a woman for anything else, including her just being fucking annoying is beyond the pale.

Depends on what exactly she was doing...
As written, it sounds somewhat like he was a very newly ex boyfriend which she was not entirely happy about, hence her following him, grabbing her arm and trying to get his attention. In that case to turn around and thump her is far more extreme than the situation called for...

As for 'is it right to hit a female'? I say it is wrong to hit anybody, male or female... But if someone feels they are strong enough to attack me first, then I reserve full right to thump them back and I don't care what sex they are - why should I take a kicking from a girl and not be allowed to defend myself purely because they are female, especially based on the fact that if they are hitting me in the first place, then they obviously believe themselves to be my equal in strength or skill.
