This is a question Your first cigarette

To be honest, inhaling the fumes from some burning leaves isn't the most natural thing in the world.
Tell us about the first time. Where, when, and who were you trying to show off to?

Or, if you've never tried a cigarette, tell us something interesting on the subject of smoking.

Personally, I've never ever smoked a cigarette. Lung damage from pneumonia put me off.

I've never had a cigarette, hopefully never will
But both my parents smoke cigars all day every day. My mother didn't even bother to stop when she was pregnant with me, nor when it was discovered that I had asthma. The smoke leaves every imaginable surface covered in a disgusting, brown slime of nicotine, which gives me a buzz if I try to clean it off.

It's gotten to the point where the windows have to be cleaned every week or else you can't see out of them. And so I have been put off smoking forever. I'm moving out in August, but until then I'm fucked. Yay.

Oh, and the cigars smell like burnt anus. That's wonderful too.

I'm just left wondering how you know what burnt anus smells like!

and I totally understand your issue about smoking parents and asthma.
The info that the doctors give you list things that irritate asthma. My parents decided that it was sport that was making me ill and the cigarette smoke had nothing to do with it.
About a year before I left for uni my mum started leaving the room for a smoke which was nice but 12 years too late (and I'd grown out of asthma by then anyway!).

Sounds familiar
My parents chainsmoked continuously (and still do) and were on about 100 a day between them. As I child I had constant chest infections and coughs, surprise surprise. Also decorating the house was like painting the Forth Bridge - by the time you finished one bit it was covered in nicotine and needed doing again. Still love them to bits though.

My wife's parents
My wife's parents both smoke lots, have ever since she was born. So, like you, she has terrible asthma. She is on two different types of inhalers, and can't go to high elevations without having major breathing problems. What a wonderful thing for someone to do to their child.
