This is a question Spoilt Brats

Mr Newton sighs, "ever known anyone so spoilt you would love to strangle? I lived with a Paris Hilton-a-like who complained about everything, stomped her feet and whinged till she got her way. There was a happy ending though: she had to drop out of uni due to becoming pregnant after a one night stand..."

Who's the spoiltest person you've met? Has karma come to bite them yet? Or did you in fact end up strangling them? Uncle B3ta (and the serious crimes squad) wants to know.

Is it just me or is this just spoilt, intellectual snobbery?
Someone I know, who clearly considers themselves a cut above the rest of us. However, he has been single for an inordinately long time and joined an online dating agency. Fair enough, busy lives etc, I can see the logic. However when filling out his profile rather than saying all the qualities that he would like in his potential partner ( sensitive, witty, well read, well traveled, whatever) he put 'must be educated to degree level'.

So basically he can while away the long winter nights looking at his new partners graduation photos presumably, while the rest of us get with having real relationships with people based on mutual respect and understanding?

I may be over reacting so tell me if you think I am. I just found it repugnant that someone would dismiss an entire swathe of people as not good enough basically on such a flimsy premise. Its not a job application for pete's sake.

In all fairness...
That sets the bar quite low. It's not hard to be educated to degree level these days. Someone who's not capable of that sort of thing probably has difficulty finding their way to the bathroom.

I know what you mean
But do you think that makes it OK? I just think its a horrible way to view people.

What an utter, utter, twat
that is all

fuck that
I spend my working days surrounded by undergraduates. Last thing I want to do is go home to one (even one that's managed to scrape their god-given, paid-for, entitled 2:1).

I had an ex
with a similar outlook on life.

She used to say things like 'Not going to university was not an option in our house'

Then she decided to mention to me that she thought my mate shouldn't be flying planes for a living 'as he didn't have a degree'

So no prejudices there then!

and what was her degree in?
Oh I DO hope it was something useless

Unfortunately
it was biology so she was quite clever and is now a teacher poisoning the minds of the younger generation!

hmm
maybe he's lookng to relate to a fellow (ex) student. I know in my circles, there are subtle differences between those who went and those who didnt. I know this is horrible generalisation, but the ones who did, i tend to have, lets say, more stimulating conversations with. YMMV but thats just my lot.

meh
I went out with a guy who had left school at 16, not because he was unintelligent but because he hated it and wanted to go and get a job instead. I never, ever found it to be an issue in our two year relationship. I have far more respect for him than for people who go and do a Mickey Mouse degree just for the hell of it.
