I was a bit late paying my council tax bill in April and they had the bare-faced cheek to send me a snotty red “Final Demand” letter, not only requesting immediate payment for the outstanding debt but they had the ruddy nerve to demand payment for the next month as well. I know my rights and I wasn’t having that! Seething with righteous indignation I got right on the Internet and paid the bill for the entire year IN FULL.
Needless to say I haven’t heard from them since.
Hang on…

It's like work today, I phoned in sick and they said "If you don't come in today don't bother coming in on Monday"...WOO!! Four day weekend!

Count yourself lucky that you had the option.
I missed 1 month of council tax payments and that meant that I "lost the right" to continue paying monthly and had to pay for the rest of the year up front!
Long story short, I shat in the envelope and sent it back to them.

was one of those things that you aren't legally obliged to pay for some obscure reason. Wouldn't try it myself, mind.

they seem happy enough to send OAPs to prison for not paying it
