Got a great tip? Share it with us. You know, stuff like "Prevent sneezing by pressing you index finger firmly between your nose and your upper lip."

Sensible one for once...
When you have a cold starting, or you've had a special night out(/in), fill a glass with body temperature warm water and dissolve some salt in it.

Gently sniff the water into your mouth, spit out the nose goo and blow the rest away - hey presto, empty nose!

And being body temperature saline, this shouldn't hurt a bit.

or doesn't?

may cause drowning

lol, only mild drowning
Shouldn't and doesn't - if it's at body temperature and you get the amount of salt right, it's similar in chemistry to your body fluids and therefore just feels a bit odd the first time you try it. Think "saline drip".

Also good for getting rid of London Underground Black Bogies.

/Edit: Oh I see what you mean about the drowning...No, this is gently sniffing it with your head down...doesn't go anywhere near your lungs, just trickles in to your mouth.

This is also a good move if one is a fan
of nostril-based illicit entertainments.

Snuff?

You can buy saline spray things at the chemist for babies
They do the same thing I think without the Darwin Award-esque drowning risk.

You can never
feed babies too much salt.
