According to Rick SteinTail End, Leith, Edinburgh is one of the best chippies in the UK. That man knows his fish.
I would personally recommend for an Indian, the Verandah Restaurant, Haymarket.

Rick Stein's own chippies in Padstow are not particularly special and horribly over-pricedlike everything else in Padstow.
I wouldn't trust him.
