This is a question My most treasured possession

What's your most treasured possession? What would you rescue from a fire (be it for sentimental or purely financial reasons)?

My Great-Uncle left me his visitors book which along with boring people like the Queen and Harold Wilson has Spike Milligan's signature in it. It's all loopy.

Either that or my Grandfather's swords.

As God is my witness
I was ejected from Sunday school for telling the truth. We were all asked to thank God for our most treasured possession.

One by one, the children said "thank you God, for mummy and daddy", "thank you God, for my pet cat" etc. When it came to me I said "thank you God for my big black organ".

It was a few years before I understood why they thought i was taking the piss.

Edit: It was a Yamaha ME15A

Hallelujah!
I knew a funny one would come along eventually. Sir, you and your big black organ have made my afternoon.

As a young english lad
I went to live in the states for a bit. At school, we all used pencils. If you needed to rub something out, you asked the teacher if you could use her eraser.

So I went up, and asked if I could use her rubber.

I didn't know that was something else in yank-ese, and got sent to the Principal. I've never been so confused in my life.

Actually, the Principal was probably pretty puzzled too....
