This is a question Starting something you couldn't finish

Finnbar says: I used to know a guy who tattooed LOVE across his left knuckles, but didn't tattoo HATE on the other knuckles because he was right-handed and realised he couldn't finish. Ever run out of skills or inspiration halfway through a job?

I've just seen how much
iPhone / Android App developers earn compared to web developers. Consequently, I'm downloading the mobile Java resources, SDKs and all the tutorials/guides I can find.

This time next week, the furthest I'll have progressed is just past the 'Hello World' example and the all the files I downloaded will be in the Recycle Bin.

I have the
Apple SDK for the Iphone somewhere. Still in a .dmg, two years later.

Search an IT jobs website
see how much they earn, it's startling.

Yeah, but
you gotta do c0dez.

It all seems to be contract work too. I can never decide of contracting is a good thing - 6 months work, 6 months lazing about, or a bad thing - 6 months work, 6 months panicking over the mortgage.

Contracting
All I can find is contracts too.

Which is all very well, until you realise that you're going to get stung by IR35, with no paid holiday, no pay if you're sick and no notice period when it all goes wrong and they want to make savings, and being unable to write the tools of your trade off against tax, unlike every other industry.

which are advantages for employers.

I have the SDK now.
And will start as soon as I get more time on my hands.

Hah.
That's not promising.

I was thinking of an app that sends 750 volts through the case if you touch the bottom left hand corner - thus solving the problem of dodgy signals.

that's good
it's important to keep your list of nearly gained skills as current as possible ;)
