Useless adviceAs a new parent, people seem to think it's OK to pass on any and every old wives tale possible. "Don't hug him too much". What? Quite what possesses people to pass on baseless, idiotic, useless advice I don't know.
That said, I quite often give car drivers directions and then, after they've moved off, realise that I've sent them down a bike-only route, so I can give as good as I get.
What useless advice have you been given (or handed out) recently?

I did a similar thingto the question setter, walking home late one night I met coming the other way a foreign fellow who explained he was looking for a large industrial factory in the area. Fortunately I knew where it was, and even more fortunately was able to tell him he was going the wrong way and set him right. That was my good deed for the day,
til I got home and told my dad who pointed out I'd sent the poor chap 2 miles out of his way in the wrong direction down a dirt track in his HGV in the pitch dark :( The poor chap was on the right road until he met me.
