We voted WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as B3ta's Person of the Year. Who do you have as 2010's scoundrel and why?

It's all very confusing though; we've got it easy with the NHS - we pay NI, we get healthcare. Don't know how insurance companies have ended up with such a big stake in the US

The NHS was born out of the ashes of the Blitzkrieg.
...or at least roughly the same time...

And he took some political damage from critics in the process.
I'd also like to add that Obama ended "Don't Ask Don't Tell" the other day, so he hasn't been a complete disappointment.

That's the job of the house of representatives and the senate. The president and the white house are the executive that implements the laws passed by the two houses.

The yanks refused to go any further though because despite communism being dead for 20 years, they are still shit scared of it. So anything that even hints of socialism is viewed as the work of the devil.

Anything that hints at socialism, or anything that requires the least tax increase is the work of the devil himself. People bitch and moan about how we should have things the way they are in Europe for certain things, particularly health care and uni. Then when the time comes to vote for it, people get scared shitless that the red menace is coming for us, since *surprise* things like national healthcare programs cost money.
Also, if you actually thought Obama could follow through on any of his promises without fail, you're an idiot. As has been mentioned, Obama has no power himself to effect changes as he promised. Just like every presidential candidate for the past several decades, he's made promises he couldn't keep. For whatever reason, you lot lapped it up, again.
