My Mam: After a surprise double gangland shooting outside my family home a few years back, my mam took it upon herself in the following weeks to write down the reg number of "suspicious looking cars". Presumably her detective work led to the arrest and conviction of hundreds, if not thousands of Dublin's underworld.

Mate's Mam: Led an interrogation of my mate about a party he had when she was away. Despite the house being absolutely spotless, and no noise complaints, she knew something was awry. She had found a "girl's hair that wasn't Sarah's (his girlfriend at the time)", a single ring-pull from a can and she had also noticed that the heating was turned down slightly. My mate got an absolute bollocking!

Another mates Dad: Engulfs himself in countless documentaries and books on the Kennedy assassination in the belief that he "will solve it eventually".

I can't wait for my mid-fifties!

If, some time in the future, any child of mine hosts a party when I'm away
I won't give a shit as long as the house is clean, but every time I come back, I'll spend a few days walking around and occasionally sniffing suspiciously or examining the contents of the bins. The more paranoid they are that I'm going to find out, the cleaner they'll keep my house next time. If I try hard enough (and visit friends regularly), I'll never even need to do the vacuuming.

They expected to get an easy ride when Joe Kennedy did a deal with the chicago mafia run unions ... basically they didn't expect the kennedies to go so hard on organised crime. And basically because Frank Sinatra had brokered most of the deals between the mafia and the kennedies.

It's all pretty simple. Same reason bobby was killed.

There's a good documentry called - Frank Sinatra's Dark Past - which has lots of stuff about it.

Who did the killing I don't know - but I'm pretty sure it was a mafia hit.
