I would like to get over the crippling depression that has robbed me of ambition and sucked the joy from my life leaving me a husk of a human being.

One Day

Seriously, one day you'll wake up and be able to face the world.

Another day, and you'll wake up happy.

I've suffered from the Black Dog. Been hospitalised (as in stuck in loony-bin), lost so much of who I was and thought there was no way out. Except the obvious.

But I eventually found the drug that worked for me. 6 years without any depression and now, life is good.

There is a way out - you just haven't found it yet..

Didn't go as far as the loony bin but everything else he said, I can personally assure you is true.

Something that helped me was realising that even normal happy people can have bad days too. Every day doesn't have to be perfect.

Yeah, you can do it. Work to change those little habits of the mind which send you downwards, work on yourself, try to keep a sound mind in a sound body, talk to people about it.

You'll get better. Inevitably, there'll be things which are germaine to your situation which are unique to yourself, so no one piece of advice from another person is going to sort it out for good. Still, take some consolation from the fact that others have been there and found a way out, and that people want you to succeed.
