This is a question Things to do before you die

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us that his ambition is to a) drive around New Zealand in a camper van; and b) have MASSIVE sex with the original members of Bananarama. Tell us what's on your wish list, and why.

Since this thing is impossible, I suppose it's more of a wish
But I am currently in America, and have just received an email from my mum letting me know that Tash, the cat I have had since I was 8, got a massive infection in his sinuses over the weekend that stopped him breathing, and he had to be put down.

I know it is what absolutely every single pet-owner says, but he wasn't a cat. He was Tash. There never has been, and never will be a cat that keeps me company like he did, and loved me through thick and thin.

Since moving to the US, I have started gaining some success as a writer, started making a name for myself, but right now, I would give every single penny, and all of my possessions, to be able to say goodbye to him properly. To give him a hug, and a kiss on the forehead. Just to hear him purr one more time.

You could have him stuff with live pigeons...
He would pur one last time.

:' ( indeed.
I had to give my cat away when I moved, and that was still sad.

It was kind of a double-shock
They discovered a huge cancerous tumor on his liver, and we all thought he would be dead within a week. We got ready, and then he just woke up one day and was fine. He felt well enough to go into surgery. Then a month later, this. He deserved a longer second chance.

Sorry to hear that.

I feel your pain...
My dog is to me what Tash was to you. She's been with me through some VERY tough times, has stood by me where others have just got up and fucked off, never to be seen again. A loyal companion and always happy to see me.

I don't think I'll be able to take her to be put down, I just couldn't. It breaks my fucking heart thinking about it.

Good luck.

"He's really not dead... so long as you remember him."

It's a far, far better thing I do than I have ever done before. A far better resting place that I go to than I have ever known.

You have to remember you and your family gave Tash the best life he could have. He died a loved and happy cat and you should be proud of that.

I know exactly what you mean
I had to have my fifteen year old Maine coon put down last week after she started experiencing massive cramps and having taken her to the local vet hospital at around midnight discovered a tennis ball sized lump in her abdomen that had gone unnoticed through various checkups etc. She went into shock in my arms and the worst thing was that I couldn't tell the kids until the end of school the day after. They didn't get a chance to say goodbye because they didn't know anything was wrong when they went to bed. Our other cat is still wandering around looking out of sorts and we are all still miserable as anyone who has had Maine coons will know they are big dog like softies who demand human affection.

They are wonderful animals
My mum helps out with a local cat charity, and they have a Maine Coon. He is a big dopey lovely fool who lays on everyone as soon as they sit down.

Yeah
She has left a big shaggy cat sized hole in our lives. She had her moments though, she got hit full on by a car outside our house once, bounced down the road on three working limbs climbed two eight-foot fences and came round to our back door and just meowed to be let in and even then limped straight to her bowl. Pretty much had to persuade her to go to the vet!!!!! Feeling sad again. Bugger.

My cat
Was run over a couple of years ago, survived, but had to be put down. I mourned more for him than I did for the loss of my Grandparents.....not sure if that is weird or not but he was part of my family that I’d see every day. My partners Grandmother died around the same time and she loved cats so we have decided that he is with her, sitting on her lap in the afterlife. Made it easier on me thinking about that. I share your pain but remember he had a good innings and a good life.
