He is trying to do something for artists though,rather than labels. Musicians need to get paid, just like anybody else.

It's more the smug, self-righteous tone that I object to, coming from an erstwhile punkThough personally I would prefer musicians - artists of all kinds - to do it for love, not money (which always corrupts).
Also, these days the profits are in gigs and tours anyway, not the media. Tracks are becoming ads for the band's live performance.
