Question - if I am downloading a film in 20 .rar files what does this mean?
Will I have to do much fannying about before I can watch it?
EDIT: thanks, I have WinRAR so I'll give that a try. It's dowloading verrrryyyy slooooowwwlllly though so it'll be a while.

If you have WinRar installed
just right click on the first rar file & choose 'Extract Here'

well not really
you need all parts to "unrar" it.
then it will form one big .avi file that you can watch in any player (as long as all teh codecs and shit are on your system)
if you want to convert it to dvd thats another story.

I would guess so.
You'll need an app that can unpack .rars, to begin with. You'll also need to paste the sections together unless you can queue them in a media player.
