the cold misery of a new year with nothing to look forward to for months can now begin
hurrah :(

a jolt of urgency as the eyes creak open
the brain's sour fog boils off to feel
the ache and stiffness in the limbs,
drear cold slathered over every face,
the lights and joy of shoppingtide
now the dying flashes of morning's migraine
awakened on a piss-frosted park bench
after the chemical tramp cider that was last year.

Much of the country back to work today. Hope you've all maximised your enjoyment and got fully refreshed over the holidays because that's it now. Head down, nose to the grindstone. There's nothing to look forward to for a long, long time.

Aretha Franklin's Amazing Grace concert is on iPlayer at the minute. I saw it a couple of times when it had a cinema run, it's fantastic.

It was kind of like Rambo but starring a 60 year old Jackie Chan, and was set in Northern Ireland, featuring Pierce Brosnan doing a fucking dreadful overblown Belfast accent.
tl;dr 10/10, loved it

A film set in a Ukranian deaf boarding school. There was no dialogue or subtitles.
It was good, but quite bleak.
