True, but he has mostly been a bloated mess phoning in his performances for the last 15 years or so.
I do lol at how toxic Disney's flop Lone Ranger is now, what with the triple-whammy of Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp in redface. I actually quite enjoyed it, despite it being approximately six hours too long.

I find him most convincing when he plays people who are messed up from taking lots of drugs.
I guess that's why he often gets picked for those roles.
