This is a question Why I Love/Hate Britain

This week's been all about the Daily Mail and why people love or hate their country. Tell us one thing you hate about Britain, and one thing about why you love it.

This shouldn't be an excuse for RACISTLOLS, or long lists of things you dislike. Be intelligent, be funny, and be interesting

Picking up on golddust's post down there
What I hate (well mildly anyway) is that a request for reason is now often labelled "right wing Daily Mail thinking" without any examination of context of the statement or the author.
I suspect that reason stayed where it always lived but accusations of Fascism have in many cases replaced effort.

I've read this, thought about it and my considered response is 'fuck off, cunt'.

(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 18:40, closed)

You sound upset.

Online.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 18:49, closed)
Oh come on, you tell me the OP's not a cunt that should fuck off.
YOU CAN'T CAN YOU
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:55, closed)

We're all cunts who should fuck off. It's in the FAQ.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 20:52, closed)
Thank you for providing a perfect example.
Even if you didn't see what you did there.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 20:37, closed)
Alright Moseley
The EDL meeting's that way.

Now don't go getting all sensible on here Edjogs, cos there's some sensitive souls in the ranks.

(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:02, closed)
I suspect that labelling something"Daily Fail" is lazy.
If an opinion is based upon something other than the truth then the untruths ought to be pointed out.
There are a lot of liberal simpletons out there branding everything they feel is a little controversial "right wing" (whatever the fuck they think that means).

This
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:25, closed)
yes. this
I find the more I learn of welfare politics the more confused my political position becomes

1) people who lose their jobs shouldnt be penalised for it or left to starve
2) people who are unwilling to work but perfectly able shouldnt be supported by taxpayers
3) people who dont work shouldnt do better than those who do work
4) people shouldnt be punished for poverty or long-term illness

If I could square all these opinions I'd try and do it, but I can't.
A benefits system requires an ethos among its users. I think thats the problem
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:32, closed)
Or you accept that no system is perfect, and attempt to minimise abuse whilst doing your utmost to ensure that you don't penalise people for, say, being born.
The current government don't seem to understand this, and so come off as a bunch of Gollums, frantically trying to stop anyone getting their hands on the precious.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:37, closed)
there's even a special name for them: social justice warriors

(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 21:51, closed)
See ... you've put 'daily mail' and 'thinking' in the same phrase there
which rather undermines whatever point your little daily mail brain stem thought it was making.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:29, closed)
Another perfect example, thank you.

(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 20:41, closed)
you've somewhat undermined your sanctimony and smugness by not even getting a straightforward joke

(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 22:08, closed)
Oh I got it all right but with jokes as bad as that it needs
the author to point out that it was meant to be humorous.
I assume you must be used to this duty by now.
(, Fri 4 Oct 2013, 17:39, closed)
hahahahayeah I get jokes made at my expense but pretend to be a bit dim because something hahaha yeah

(, Sat 5 Oct 2013, 8:52, closed)
Come back when you can put a sentence together.
Or when you're awarded one.
(, Sat 5 Oct 2013, 18:42, closed)
no

(, Mon 7 Oct 2013, 11:03, closed)
You're not wrong, but it does go both ways.
There are just as many people who will outright dismiss anything they disagree with as 'loony-lefty bleeding-heart liberalism' without any examination of context of the statement or the author.

It's essentially nothing more than a lazy get-out clause for those who don't have the skills to argue their case properly. "I don't have to listen to you, you're one of those stupid people!"
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:43, closed)
I agree.
And of course my point doesn't just apply to anti right wingers. It's the whole spectrum of people who think that insulting someone is a valid argument against that person's view. Excellent examples already in this thread.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 20:46, closed)
Oh yeah?
Well you're a stinky pooface and my dad could beat yours in a fight.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 23:13, closed)
my dads got a bigger car than yours though

(, Wed 9 Oct 2013, 16:26, closed)
Extreme left wingers are as fucking stupid and reactionary as their opposites.
In other news, sky blue, water wet, world turning.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:44, closed)
Tsk. The sky is green.
They just want you to think it's blue.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:56, closed)
You're mum is green.

(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 19:58, closed)
I'm not going to dig her up to check,
so I'll defer to your experience.
(, Thu 3 Oct 2013, 20:07, closed)
the thing is, daily mail reader type people are rather predictible in their opinions
opinions that just happen to mirror the ones given by their billionaire owner in the paper everyday that the poor, and not billionaire media cunts like Lord Rothmere who don't pay any tax, are at the root of britain's problems.
That generalisations like "daily fail" are a useful shorthand that saves you from having to listen to their regurgitated blather once again.
But I'm sure you have interesting and unique opinions that are in no way predictibly similar to every other bitter daily mail reading fuckwit, edjogs, that I sadly won't get to listen to because of my lazy yet accurate characterisation of your views
(, Fri 4 Oct 2013, 1:18, closed)
Typical Yoghurt-weaver do good liberal.
You probably read the guardian or the independent and don't think mooslims and single-mothers and dole-scum have ruined everything for hard working white Britons.
