while we're on newscientist:

'A GROUP in the US has launched a petition in support of the teaching of evolution in schools, after creationism found a foothold in the curriculum. In honour of Stephen Jay Gould, the evolutionary biologist who died last year, all the signatories are called Steve. Or Stephanie, or Stefan, or Esteban... To be eligible, you also need a degree. 'Project Steve' has so far collected 225 signatures. Email evans at ncseweb.org to add your name (if it's Steve).'
