# This scares me ....
Because it reminds me of a spider....
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 16:56, archived)
# I love spiders.
No, really, I do. But they do have too much eyes and too much legs. Although as an engineer I appreciate the need for in-built redundancy...

# as an arachnophobe i appreciate the need for a big phonebook
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:23, archived)
# I can appreciate arachnopoobia...
...because I am, myself a coulrophobe. My other half is a major arachnophobe so we have an arrangement - we each agree to immediately put a glass over each other's respective phobic triggers and take them outside. It's easier getting a glass over a spider than a clown... so I think I got off easier :)

# coulrophobia sucks
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:38, archived)
# It's no laughing matter
I've yet to see a funny clown

# One of my friends
Is a professional clown, and I went to his Big Gay Wedding a few years back. He was sensitive enough to make sure there was nothing scary around - but a lot of his mates were in that line of work. I think it wa Barry that said to me "I hear that you don't like clowns?" and my response was "I don't dislike clowns - I fear them."
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:58, archived)
# My friends child is scared of clowns...... and I understand.....
Because he's small and clowns to a small child could look scarry....
But as an adult what do you fear either fear of or from them?
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:05, archived)
# They're just depressed men in make up and baggy trousers.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:09, archived)
# I saw Chinese clowns at the state circus
They were the only ones i'v ever found funny.....
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:14, archived)
# Yeah, well, they get ritually executed by the state if they don't meet their quota of laughs per show.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:18, archived)
# Me and my brother joked that.....
When an acrobat fell over.....
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:26, archived)
# That's why it's a phobia...
...because I know that rationally, I could kick their arse and the worst they could do to me would be stealing my credit card numbers. But My fear goes back to a childhood event.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:18, archived)
# I just wondered if you thought they were going to do a particulare thing to you....
Like the reasons I have for being scarred of spiders .....I know they are incapable of doing these things to me....
such as... do you fear clowns are going to kidnap you or bite you or something in particulare....
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:25, archived)
# I love spiders too.

# welcome back :D

(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:22, archived)
# To me....
Spiders = Alien...
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:32, archived)
# Well...
... I think there's a reason H. R. Giger designed the facehuggers like that... WiL even refers to particularly awful (subjective) examples as 'Facehuggers.'

I think that for many humans, arachnophobia is a genetic memory, based on some similar looking (possibly related) predator from our past lineage... possibly before we evolved into mammals...
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:42, archived)
# To me it's more like spiders are as big as the full grown alien.....
And they will carry me off under the skirting board.... put me in a cacoon ....... paralyze me..... and lay babies inside me .....but I would be awake for the whole thing....
I know it's daft .... but that's the fear!!!
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:51, archived)
# I suppose it could happen...
...my mum once noticed a strange noise in her ear but thought nothing of it (she has a perforated ear drum). About an hour later a spider crawled out of her ear canal.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:01, archived)
# Hope it didn't leave its narrow boat in there!!
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:08, archived)
# I want to like spiders
but they are too damn fast, can walk across ceilings, stay motionless for days and in my mind, are about the size of dinner plates.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:33, archived)
# And vanish into thin air......
The very second after you are sure what the thing you first saw out of the corner of your eye actually was.....
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:37, archived)
# All of those features...
...are assets. Tell me you wouldn't love to be able to walk across ceilings, move quickly and say motionless for days? Also, Silk producing glands = free clothes!!1!
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:38, archived)
# Alien "out of the film" had some pretty impressive assets.....

(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:45, archived)
# Haha......
It'd scare the hell out of my nurse when I go for my cholesterol test..!!!
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:54, archived)
# ahaha i love spiders
they are so lully, they are probably 10000000000000 times more scared of you than you are of them. I catch them and put them outside.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:42, archived)
# Not in my house...
...they know I'm not afraid of them, and that WiL is, so they will run out in front of him and stop, scratch their bollocks for a few minutes and then stride nonchalantly off into the kitchen.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 17:47, archived)
# Spiders make me jump if they sneak up on me and appear in the corner of my eye.
But then I go pick them up and throw them outside.
(, Sun 11 Jul 2010, 18:13, archived)
# The thing about having arachnophobia....
Is that spiders never sneak......
They run at you flat out in full on attack mode!!
