# Yep me too
And anyone who thinks otherwise should only be allowed to watch ITV
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 13:09, archived)
# Fuck that - only let them watch Sky One.

# Her EYES!
What have you done to her EYES!

I don't have a problem with the licence fee, but think if you have pay TV you shouldn't have to pay for it as well.

# Her eyes are lazors for zapping people without a licence
so you're safe!
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:16, archived)
# I don't
see your point

Even if you have Pay TV, you're not paying the BBC, but you're still watching/listening to their content.

Maybe if you could get a pay TV deal where you were barred from watching any BBC channels, they could give a discount.

# I think the licence fee is a bastion of civilisation.
The alternative is wall-to-wall Sky and ITV.

#
There is nothing to stop the BBC being an encrypted service funded by subscribers. Why should Sky subscribers be forced to subsidise your entertainment?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:25, archived)
# I still don't understand why anyone has a Sky subscription in the first place
As far as I can tell, you're just paying them to broadcast advertising at you
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 11:54, archived)
# Yeah too true. Fucking wall-to-wall game shows and Simpsons for all.
Interested in Pre-Raphaelite painters or the basis of the Arts and Crafts movement? Hard luck there aren't enough of you to fund it. Here watch Britain's got Talent instead.

Fuck culture and the fact it wouldn't survive in a subscription format.

Fuck it, let's make people pay to enter museums and galleries while we're at it.

# Might I venture to suggest that it's,..
Because you're all Murdoch-worshipping twunts, drool-soaked Premiership junkies and gullible council estate me-toos?

# I think you're bang wrong there CanonCaliber
you have no idea how much stuff the BBC does for this country. I am biased, I freely admit it,but I loved them even before I worked for them. Working there only increased my understanding of the breadth of content and community schemes they get involved with.

like others have said, if you look at the alternative (Sky) they're the brainwashers, and to a much more sinister end...
consume, fear, separation, feed corporate beast, fill pockets of fat cats, prejudice, Glen Beck, Murdochs agenda and empire.

Who do you believe more? Sky News or Radio 4 coverage of a story? What comedy would you rather watch? BBC stuff (the list's far too long) or sky's stuff? oh right... they don't make any, they just buy stuff from America.

Sure the BBC isn't completely innocent, but if you had any idea of how much effort is put into fairness and value for money, you'd shut the flip up!

phew!!!!! It's high & Windy up on the soap box... can I come down now? ;)

# ^This
And I don't even work for them.

We'll miss it when Murdoch and the Tory philistine's are all that's left.

# I am not against the BBC
But I am vehemently against the licence fee (which funds the BBC), If you love the BBC so much then pay for it yourself through subscription, stop forcing others to subsidize your entertainment
(, Sat 4 Sep 2010, 15:16, archived)
# Like the previous posters...
I myself like the nice BBC
They put Brian Cox on, you see
Plus Radio 4
And a whole lot more
Although they are about to restart Strictly Come Dancing so you may have a point.

(Sorry - meter went out a bit at the end there.)
