# 'You're in a Bobby Cab'

# hahaha, also

# I had dismissed this film as a typically substandard production of a more deserving work of science fiction
but the more I see it referenced here, and from what I read at IMDB, the more I realize I should watch it.
By the same reasoning, I just borrowed "Labyrinth" from my library, and am preparing for the enlightenment. It's surprising, some of the pop cultural experiences I should have had in my youth, yet inexplicably didn't.

# Now buy David Bowie's "Low".
Really. (His music was often a tad better than his acting)

It's quite cheap, and the start of lots of fruitful paths.

Somebody back me up here.

# I might see about that
I'm really only familiar with Space Oddity etc. which were played relentlessly on the Classic Rock station I listened to in the mid-80s, somewhere amid my 70s honky-tonk childhood, 80s headbanging teens, 90s college indie rock and post-millennial smorgasbord.

Check ignition, and may God's love be with you!
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 3:09, archived)
# Peace!
"Hunky Dory" might be a comfortable transitional stage before you move on to "Low"... but hey, why not just bite the bullet? It's not as if they're expensive.
(The CDs, I mean, not bullets. I dunno how much they cost)

*EDIT* Also, it looks like I'm living your musical life in reverse! From indie rock, to finding metal tolerable, and heading for a comfy honky-tonk middle-age...

# Not as shit as it's made out to be.
They did an OK version of The Pixies' "Debaser", albeit not as good as the original. As if anything could be.

# my recollections are generally positive, at least of what was in the pop charts

I should probably reinvestigate
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 3:34, archived)
# Again, do so.
it won't exactly break the bank. Oh, and pick up a copy of "Low" while you're at it. I'm not his bank manager - I just reckon that's his best record.
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 3:46, archived)
# pretty much every Bowie fan I've ever known agrees, "Low" is the best.

I'm fond of "Heroes", but I'm kind of a fag
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 4:00, archived)
# "Heroes" is ace.
My mate Ian is potty for "Young Americans", but try as I might, I just don't like it very much.
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 4:04, archived)
# "Low" is about all I've ever been able to stomach
apart from "Scary Monsters" and "Fashion" for some reason.
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 4:09, archived)
# I fought Bowie off for years. Decades, even.
But I gave in in the end.

I always had the impression I was missing out on something good that I thought was shit.

Maybe you could ease yrself in through Roxy Music, early-80s electronic gubbins or Iggy Pop. Even Suede.

# Total Recall sucks...and Bowie's Station to Station is freakin' great!
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 3:08, archived)
# Have you got the frankly ludicrous 5-cd re-issue yet?
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 3:09, archived)
# Seriously? (no)
That sounds expensive.
(, Thu 9 Sep 2010, 3:11, archived)

# hmmmm
i don't know why i like it, it's shit but it's good. it's up there with rambo and die hard etc for me, good old classics.

I was at a government office today, and found this nice two-sided checklist.
I just wonder how many of these questions would be answered honestly:

Just noticed 'crockery' in the 'background sounds' section.

Unconfined mirth, to the annoyance of people nearby.

But I'm a snooty cunt unwilling to sink to that level just yet. It's bad enough having to put in emoticons for illiterate tossers!??!?!!?!!?!??!?!!?!?!!?!?!?!!!!!?!

It reminds of me the minefield scene in Kelly's Heroes.

"Hey, heyheyhey! Hey I found one!"
"What kind is it?"
"The kind that blows up!"
