# I wanted to draw something War of the Worlds-based,
following descriptions from the book. Then I realised I lent the book to someone at work.

# Saying that, I have a few drawings and paintings to do.
I should get on with one. Either: a) a bird for a friend who is moving and took me out on a lot of birding trips; or b) my friend's ship before he leaves for a shore posting.

# From Wiki..
The Martians are described as octopus-like creatures; the "body" consists of only a head about four feet across having two eyes, a V-shaped, lipless, beak-like mouth, and two branches of 'almost-whip like' eight tentacles each around the mouth. Internally, the Martians consist of a brain, lungs, heart, and blood vessels; they have no organs for digestion, and therefore sustain themselves by mechanically transfusing blood from other animals into their arteries by a little pipette.
The ear, a single membrane located in the back of the head, is believed to be useless in Earth's atmosphere

# Ah yes.
I wondered about doing a scene of Horsell Common with the capsule, possibly even as far as half the crowd being torched. Maybe a project for another evening.

# I'm still waiting for someone to do a film version set in Victorian London.
The sense of being overwhelmed by a superior force is far more prevalent when the only thing you can throw at it is an ocean-bound ironclad.

# YES!
I've been saying this for years, if only for seeing Woking burnt to the ground.
In the meantime, have a pea roast:

But the end result was complete pants :(

Cannon were pretty effective against the fighting machines in the book.

Unfortunately for humanity gas masks had not yet been invented.... So the black smoke did for them all.

Wells didn't know much about military tactics unfortunately (he was a pacifist after all). The best strategy would be large mines laid in the path of the fighting machines - kaboom!
