Basically Amy was a singer who was quite popular but plagued by substance addiction, alcoholism etc. She tried a comeback tour but couldn't manage it sober so it all got cancelled until she dried up. But she never dried up and she died of it.

Wasn't a shock, but sad none the less.

And another one of the "Rock Star Dies Age 27" brigade:
Robert Johnson (who started it all)
Jimi Hendrix
Jim Morrison
Kurt Cobain
All died aged 27. I'm sure there's a mathematical reason for it, but it's still a wonderfully weird fact.

I should point out Robert Rankin was the bringer of this to my attention in "The Brightonomicon".
But then he would... it's a tradition, or an old charter, or something.

3 cubed, 3x3x3, is 27. That means it's of cosmic significance or something. Or was that only back in the '60s?
