it's not for ripping/demuxing though (I'm talking about two things at once)
that when selected it allows you to record what is playing. You would need some software like Audacity.

I have some cassette tapes I want to record to WAV but none of my decks at home have a line out
It's not perfect if you're recording from cds/flac but a little bit of hiss reduction in cool edit will solve it.
