# SEDAN FUCK
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 17:42, archived)
# I want someone to get the music video it's from
But it's a bit obscure...
(clue: it reached number 65 in 1998. No, I know that's not much of a clue.)
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 17:57, archived)
# Is it...
Tooty and the Suits with "Rock My Palanquin"?
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:02, archived)
# Very close... (and, personally, I think Tooty made a mistake going solo)
It's the wonderful Helen Love :)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFcu7gSt640
(be warned, to hear it once is to hum it forever...)
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:07, archived)
# Haha, of all people I should have recognised it -
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:10, archived)
# Whoa, spooky :0
I even remember you posting that, but when I clicked on the link I got a 404 error...
We must both think of Helen Love whenever we hear the word 'shed' - how peculiar!
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:16, archived)
# I just realised that myself - I'd actually pasted a random bit of text instead of the url and never checked to see if it worked!
It's ninja'd now
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:18, archived)
# Also, I'd no idea it was Helen Love (or that Helen Love was anyone)
I just looked up the song and, cos I find it quite annoying didn't play the vid right through (hence why I didn't recognise your clip). I was also quite surprised to find out it's a female vocalist.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:20, archived)
# I must have heard it 2 or 3 times on the radio back in 1998
and it STILL gets stuck in my head. I especially like how it namechecks loads of bands that have since disappeared and no-one even talks about now.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:24, archived)
# 'You've got your Longpigs and your Bluetones!'
(actually, I really like Blue Skies by Longpigs for its demented siren intro... sigh, I'm so indie sometimes)
Also mentions Jonathan King before his very name became dangerous to say - the 90s were so innocent, weren't they..?
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:31, archived)
# I have been getting BIG TIME 90s nostalgia these last few months
Been listening to everything from Pulp to Massive Attack
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:33, archived)
# It was a time when bands with guitars were actually allowed in the top 10...
I've always preferred Pulp's 'This Is Hardcore' era to their britpop height - and all of Massive Attack is gooood :)
I've had a Pumpkins reawakening recently and good ol' Wedding Present...
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:41, archived)
# I'm not really too bothered about bands having guitars
In fact, speaking of Smashing Pumpkins, my favourite album of theirs is the electronica-tinged Adore.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:44, archived)
# I think melon collie is their best
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:45, archived)
# Mellon Collie is a very close 2nd (and Siamese Dream is a very close 3rd)
In fact I possibly like Mellon Collie a little more, I just listen to Adore more these days. Plus Ava Adore is definitley my favourite Pumpkins song.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:48, archived)
# Ooh, and Perfect is ace too
(I only really know the singles from Adore but I recall the last 17 second track being quite moving despite it's shortness)
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:58, archived)
# Best non-single tracks on Adore
are Daphne Descends (which I think would have made a better second single than Perfect) and For Martha, which is really beautiful.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 19:01, archived)
# *fires up Youtube*
while I'm here, Age of Innocence from Machina would've been an excellent single and Home from Machina II is the definiton of 'soaring'*

*though not officially
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 19:07, archived)
# Check out "Behold! The Night Mare" as well
I'll have to check out Machina a bit more. I only know the singles off that.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 19:12, archived)
# I'd say Siamese Dream for the last two 'summer evening' songs
I wish Corgan wouldn't go around calling himself the Smashing Pumpkins now - though ironically the Wedding Present have been going around as just Gedge for years and I have no problem with that... I AM AN INDIE HYPOCRITE.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:55, archived)
# True, although
I think the Pumpkins were always just a kind of backing band for him, so I guess it doesn't really matter who else is a member. I'm not familiar with any of the new incarnations music though, so can't comment on their actual goodness.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 19:04, archived)
# yeah, siamese dream is also excellent, but mellon beats it for sheer volume of quality tracks
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 20:49, archived)
# it's the first time I've ever heard that song
it's the last time I'll ever hear that song
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:32, archived)
# Aww, you love it really
Whatever you do, don't click on this one, then... www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPq6lrhS0qI

Do you know last week you managed to top the stats page again for the first time in months?
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:03, archived)
# bloody hell, did i?
was only here a few days whilst emptying my sister's drinks cabinet!
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:05, archived)
# I know! 2 days worth of messages was enough to keep you there for a week!

# this place has been deader than an 80's hooker in yorkshire lately
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:13, archived)
# Funny thing is, people are still posting new threads (this compo has been one of the most popular in ages)
but fewer people are commenting. Seen loads of pics go without a single reply.
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:17, archived)
# it's sad, really
with any luck, the sheer boredom of olympic dressage will bring the back to the fold
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:19, archived)
# Yeah. Let's just hope we don't get a run of good weather
cos that always makes the place quieter
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:22, archived)
# not much chance of that
although the met office says 22 degrees and sunny tomorrow, so i can work on my tan while i recover from the violent hangover i'm sure to have ;D
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:27, archived)
# well, i'm getting dirty looks, so i think it's time to get ready.

(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:29, archived)
# Bye - have a good 'un!
(, Sat 21 Jul 2012, 18:32, archived)
# I kept thinking "what kind of sexy reply would Smash make?"
And there'd be silence. Everything is back to normal again. Yay.
