# Well, Jessops was basically Amazons camera showroom at the end.
Poor old HMV, I can see Waterstones going this way as well.

# Is Waterstones doing badly?
I knew sales were down a bit, but books are nice physical objects.

# They've been struggling for a few years.
I don't know how well they're doing ATM, but they are another potential victim of Amazon.

# I like Amazon. They don't pay tax, sure, but they're hella convienient
and didn't quibble about giving me a refund on delivery charges when they failed to deliver by the promised time.

# This is true.
The world changes and sometimes the stuff we get nostalgic about gets swept away.
It was always cool visiting the big HMV in Manchester when I was a kid though.
Looking at the weird album covers and browsing was part of the fun of being in a record shop.

# Amazon is useful for research and cheap toys/boardgames
but bookwise I try to give the nice independent bookshop up the road from me as much custom as possible. Otherwise my local row of shops will only offer an awe-inspiring range of fried chicken.
