To answer your question, I don't post anything because it would be futile. I enjoyed posting before because it felt slightly less futile as praise mostly had to be earned. Not every half-arsed piece of 5-minute irrelevant photoshopping shit was lauded by the members, like is the case with the reciprocal fuckwit sycophants. It used to have more to it than "lol look a funny facial expression" and the in-jokes involved humour.
So, yeh, moaning about how it used to be again, but that's why I don't post pics, it would feel like spending time painting something good, then trying to sell it by nailing it face-to-the-wall in Poundland.

Do you mean back when w/y/h to everything was the common response?
B3ta has always been congratulatory, because for the most part we're happy to have anything that alleviates the boredom or seriousness of the day's work, even silly face swaps can raise a smile.
I appreciate it can look like the circlejerk some call it, but for me it's simply laughing at things that make me crack a smile or appreciating the effort someone has gone to on some actual proper drawing.
It sounds like what you would like is a bit of serious art appreciation/critique - which is fine, I recall that being a good part of b3ta in the past, we've had loads of more arty folk - micto's ace vector work, mofaha's half arsed filtads etc. Yet when I risk a little constructive criticism with things like the photo recolouring the other day I get accused of being passive aggressive.
B3ta's a funny old place. Different folk want different things, which is what we used to do well.

And no, I don't know how you came to the conclusion that I want serious art critique. The mention of a painting was a a. B3ta has gone the way of tv entertainment, where faint praise causes a lowering of standards. If enough people say something is awesome when it patently is not, this influences future product, it's repeated and emulated. This erosive effect can be seen on tv, but in a microcosmic form here. It's fucked.

this isn't it :D...
You say you don't want critique yet you critique Ninj's posts b3ta.com/board/11120385
I'm not wanting a fight, just trying to get us on the same page/doing our own thing happily without worrying too much about who else is doing what.
B3ta always used to be a rich tapestry of art and utter nonsense, even though a lot of the art was complained about - "this is b3ta not worth1000". Atomic keeps at it as do others, ignore what you consider to be crap half-arsed photoshop and faint praise and just post your work, it will fix what you say is wrong, elevating this place, it's certainly not going to damage your pictures putting them here.

It's just that they're shit. I'm not going to pretend they're awesome because that leads to the problem.
sorry about the deletion, on my phone on the bus, didn't realise it had posted in the first place.

just hold your w/y/h's for the pictures you like.
Make the drbroon seal of approval a thing for artists to aspire to ;)
But do post your proper stuff, lead by example. I'd certainly love more art on here, and if it in turn encourages baying cyber-mob to post drawings again then everyone's a winner

The site used to have a "Shit is good" manifesto.
The popular page still means the best stuff rises to the top. People often click but don't comment.

The funnies were more regular, funny, more varied. Maybe 4-5 years ago or so. I'm not talking about standard of photoshoppery or anything like that, I'm talking the type of humour. It used to have a bit more of an edge or a bit more wit, now it's just dumb bbc-primetime-esque comedy and undeserving, exaggerated praise. It wasn't like that before. Thinking up a post or a joke would take effort before, which might or might not be rewarded with laughs/praise, now we have a situation where people pat their mates on the back for whatever they cough onto the photoshop palette, no matter how lacking in originality or wit their post is.

b3ta.com/board/archive/
it returns a mix of headswaps, lolrandom, memes and other stuff. All get praise.
It's always been a mixed bag. People just forget the shit.
(Which isn't to say we haven't lost some good members who raised the bar.)
