To go on further:I've seen arguments that there's a clique that prefers to support its own members efforts rather than to post/appreciate any inherent humour. Likewise, there's arguments that there's a lot of unpleasantness that things aren't how they're used to be when this site had a lot more posters.
Personally, I've tried to stay fairly middle-of-the-road on this, but fucking hell, there's a lot of internetloldrama, toy/pram separation events and general fucking moaning.

No, the long decline started years ago with the advent of Wobbly Bloke. Posting three toweringly shit filtered photos each evening of people he'd wanked over and whose birthdays were that day. What had happened was that he saw that mofaha's vector graphics were quite popular and wanted a piece of the action despite lacking any discernible talent in the area. Day after day, the pictures would roll in. We tolerated them at first. Then tolerance led to a disquiet that he was somehow feeding off of the lifeblood of b3ta, sucking it dry and humping the shrivelled husk. In days of old, he'd have been hounded off the board, sent packing, possibly violated. But the mods allowed him to continue. His ego grew and grew as people circle jerked him, usually the unfunniest of cunts, the sort who would have mugs with 'you don't have to be crazy to work here, but it helps!' OH HA HA HA YOU FUCKING PRICK. Posters started to drift away, many by the soft porn aspects of some of his stuff, many by the sheer weight of joyless graphics. There were no jokes to most of his stuff (although it must be noted he could post some genuinely funny stuff on occasion). Eventually, we lost many of the really funny, creative types. Rob's interst waned as he went to suck corporate cock for The Mirror. Happy Toast was left alone with the keys and it was a steep learning curve. Differences of opinion happened, people found they had families, less forgiving offices that didn't allow for funny websites at lunch (a process accelerated by the posting of numerous unfunny soft-porn gifs by certain members).
New members turned up who didn't necessarily understand what had been and couldn't understand some of the barbed comments that were seen as general affection by regulars. More regulars left, but fewer came to replace them. Eventually, the place changed and became more about social circles than satire. Titter, Facebook, Buzzfeed, they all helped in the decline.
And here we are now. Groups of people with very different ideas of what the place should be or what it's for. Some nicer than others, each with a point.

you might just want to check what it 'was intended to be'I'm not sure the intention was ever to praise shit that was unworthy of it, I thought it was about posting funny pictures. The churning out of arbitrary faceswaps without any consideration for a joke is what, in my opinion, is annoying. Face + another face seem to be the only criteria. They always seem like a joke with no punchline, no matter how well shopped they are. Then there is the "hahahaha nice one matey" reciprocal knee-jerk responses from the anti-joke brigade. This leads to the /board being populated often only by these back-patters, making it at times less accessible to people (old and new) who want to post funny stuff. Can't help noticing the place isn't teeming with n00bs these days. B3ta attracted people with its humour before, so this downturn is not solely the fault of twitter et al.
