# I am so...embarrassed.
I just heard on the news that the secret service had to be talked out of asking everyone up to and including the Queen to wear a special ID badge while bush is visiting. Arrogant much?

Hey, guys, I have a proposal. When it's time for him to leave, how much would it cost us for you guys to kinda sorta throw a few beers down him and put him on the wrong plane? I'm sure it'll work, I saw it on an old TV comedy the other night. C'mon, what do you say?

B-I-NGO! B-I-NGO!

# How about
a few hundred thousand of us just go and tell him how much we disapprove of him? How would that be?

Christ, do we have to do everything in this hemisphere?

# as I said before
I don't care if he comes to Britain, stays in the states or goes to Hell
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 1:19, archived)
# i actually kind of agree
i don't agree with his policies but this should be an occasion to say that rather than to just tell him to cock off as it is turning into
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 1:22, archived)
# He's been told.
He doesn't care. He's said so. Blatantly. Keep that in mind when protesting. Make no mistake, you are not delivering a message, you are standing up to a bully. There's a difference.

# I'd quite like it if he moved into a semi detached in Hull
next to Tony benn

as some sort of ITV comedy reality show "I'm a fraudulantly appointed president get me out of here"

but I wouldn't watch it

# i want him to come to britain.
i think he's a great man who has done a lot of good for this world.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 1:20, archived)
# Ha ha ha ha ha (gasp) hahaha...but seriously...
We want him to come to Britain too. Most of us just don't want him BACK.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 1:48, archived)
# To be fair...
...some Americans have tried to protest against him, but they have to do it 30 miles away from him, behind a lead screen, upside down in a tank of water and be visible only in ultraviolet light.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 1:21, archived)
# I'm aware of this.
It's a great example by the leaders of the free world. That comment of mine was more a direct response to the lead post in this thread than a criticism of grass-roots US politics.

# We also
have to have full body-cavity searches before and just for safety the secret service confiscates our arms and legs and all our blood.

# Don't ask me,
I'm going to start telling people I'm Canadian.

How would that be? Why, lovely, thanks. I'll be watching (and cheering)on the latenight BBC News feed we get on our cable, since the US network news will probably only mention it in passing, or say "A handful of random English persons, probably escaped mental patients, were less than happy to see GWB this morning..."

Aigh. Must. Regain. Control. Must. Stop. Watching. News. While. Drinking. Makes. Me. Tear. Hair. Out.

# I heard...
...that he asked for the whole of the UK to change our clocks to Washington time for the duration of his visit, just so he didn't get jet lagged.

The cheek of the man.

# Mind you,
I changed my personal time to Japanese time for the entire duration of the World Cup.

Mind you, that's important.

# the danger is the protestations will become the main focus
rather than what is actually behind them.

Does the Illuminati need any better cover than the 'feeling' that people are protesting and they can be comforted with that, while nothing actually changes and their protesting does not change anything?

# I counter this tactic,
by cunningly using CND's free transport to go to the pub with some b3tans in London, and just droning on with 100% of Gibbon about how terrible the world is.

That's *our* protest.

'set against the backdrop of anti-bush protests, two men get to grips with the world's problems, aided by a bit of alcohol and a packet of crisps.'
