you said earlier there was no transpareny cos your server has got a crap version of the GD library, or something along those lines
If you didnt know the reason is gif generation is no longer supported because the gif algorhythm is patented and so it wont be included in the GD anymore. Basically they had to remove it at a certain version to prevent them breaking the law so the only way you can generate gifs is to get an old version of the GD.

to be frank... all the more reason to convince people to use the fox, Firefox has good support for png's
edit: btw you might want to add stripslashes in there to get rid of \ every time someone adds ' or " :)
