and I get tired of the rampant knee-jerk anti-Americanism that crops up around these parts.
But that website is just plain funny.

Some people have the intelligence to see that politics and society are nowadays ( if not always ) two different things. Others vote Bush.

and if you want to debate it I am very well informed and completely able to engage in such a debate articulately and constructively, and not ( to generalise again ) simply some reactionist pinko commie moore-loving bleeding-heart liberal pansy.

the rest of the world appreciates you speaking for them.

and that the majority of the world doesn't have an internet connection, I should think that they probably do appreciate their views being spoken, yes.
Are you actually suggesting that there are more people in this world that like Bush than hate/fear/distrust him? If that is truly what you believe then you must be very sheltered from non-US media.

I'm very saddened that Bush has won because it means that people over there have been blinded by the media. It's not about 'anti-Americanism'. I really love America and the people I meet when I'm over there, but there are also aspects of it that I despise, predominantly the 'we're number one!' mindset that seems to be extending into US politics and religion.

that nearly half of the country voted against Bush.
Trust me, many Americans do not buy into everything this administration is selling.
That is all.

Unfortunately that half wasn't enough, and now they don't get a say in policies for the next four years. Bush doesn't exactly have a great record of listening to his people so far, so I can't imagine he's about to start doing so now... Not that the UK government is much better, but that's just because Blair seems absolutely blind to the chance that things presented to him by Bush might not be real.

So let's look at the bright side...term limits!
Four more years and OUT THE DOOR!

that technically he wasn't voted in the first time around, so maybe he'll run again next time!
But yes, thank goodness for that aspect of your political structure. If Bush can get back in then that means that there's a chance that Blair might get back in again too, and we have no limits on re-election.
Hilary Clinton for 2008!

which is why I'm not yank-bashing. just cunt-bashing, because we're in a situation where the rest of the world has to deal in very real terms with the actions of that unbelievable administration. Since unfortunately most people are reactionary rather than measured and objective, it's important to go the extra mile and be informed - and therefore able to make pragmatic decisions in amongst the heady emotions of the current geopolitical climate.

I don't and never have bought into the "we're #1" bullshit. And I was born and raised and live here.
As far as I'm concerned...we're number........oh 118? Shit. Some of us aren't Jingoists...by any stretch. April.
