# yes, put the kettle on a cat
some Earl Gray please?
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:03, archived)
# tea
mug
teabag first
then boiling water
steep for 45 seconds
stir with clean spoon
squeeze teabag then remove
skimmed milk to manilla envelope colour
stir again with clean spoon

I'm not fussy though - so whatever really

# Surely
you should stir for 5 seconds in a clockwise direction, followed by 5 seconds counter clockwise?
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:06, archived)
# NO!
the stir of the teabag is a false devil that proclaims the flavour but just releases the colour and the tannins!

steeping is your friend!

# 45s?
you enjoy dish water?
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:06, archived)
# if the water is boiling
then this is perfect (if followed by a squeeze)

any longer and the tea is stewed
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:08, archived)
# only perfect if about 9 tea bags are used
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:11, archived)
# your ideas are always flawed
.. remember that time you tried to colour in your school bag? ;)

# milk please mummy

# 90s? Overnight, then nuke
it's gotta be strong!
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:13, archived)
# Nooooooo...
Milk in the cup first - ALWAYS!
If you add the milk to the tea, then you're adding a small volume of milk to a large volume of boiling liquid, and it burns the milk. By making the tea in a teapot, and then pouring it into the cup with the milk already in, then initially you're adding boiling liquid to a larger volume of milk, so it doesn't burn the milk.

# indeedaroony
if using a teapot, however if using a teabag in a mug then the steeping time allows the water to cool enough to not scald the milk, usually to about 94C

it's science you see
(, Wed 28 Sep 2005, 14:11, archived)
# NEVER EVER
though make me a fucking cup of tea by mixing the teabag with the milk first.

or stir it with a spoon that has stirred coffee or another srink with sugar in. Bastards.
