I saw a temperature probe, in use, it was a laser!!Whan pointed on the object told the temp!!But how???How can light measure heat?

maybe the temperature of the surface it bounces off on causes the lases beam to change in some way, which can be measured upon coming back

i guessed it might be something to do with the particles in the thing you point it at moving/vibrating at different speeds therefore causing tiny amounts of doppler shift, but now thinking about it that's a load of bollocks

The beam comes back hotter or colder.We tried hot food, then an ice machine, when pointed at the ice, it measured -1 degrees,so it does work, but how????
