as it doesn't have any pop ups are makes any noises while it's on. Which is good as my PC is very unstable when I'm using Photoshop or Flash MX.

one of my friends had the problem on her home pc that when she signed in a whole bunch of people would message her, which would overload the old computer a bit causing it to crash

so she is now in the habbit of having all her contacts blocked all the time and then just unblocking people as and wen she wants t talk to them

I like Trillian. It underlines every interesting word that gets mentioned and gives you a mouse-over pop-up with text from the corresponding wikipedia page.
