Whales am ace.

TJ: I've been offered an ipod. What kind should I get?

# I found an iPod Nano.
Best thing I've ever found. But it's a bit annoying that you can't adjust the volume when in a menu, and iTunes is utterly gay.

EDIT: Anything but the Shuffle. Other mp3 devices are available.

# Why is iTunes gay?
Can you stick any music on your computer onto an ipod?
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:32, archived)
# OK, I have an iRiver
that allows you to drag and drop the files you want onto the memory, and you can arrange the files in whatever folders you want.

But with my iTunes and the iPod, it automatically synchronises with playlists in iTunes, which is very tedious, and for some inexplicable reason, some of my songs are in there three times. I guess it takes some getting used to, but I prefer the way the iRiver allows you to arrange files.

# Oh right, I see
Thanks everyone for your help. :)
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:43, archived)
# You can turn auto synchronisation off in the preferences
So that you can only update what folders/files you choose.
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:48, archived)
# I need to play with it more I think.
I didn't get any instuctions with it because I found it in the road.
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:50, archived)
# in the preferences of itunes I meant.
I have a Nano... they are ok, but the battery life is a bit crap. I probably wouldn't buy another one when this eventually dies.

I just loved them for their tinyness.

# The i River kind
or the Creative Zen kind.

Or what I have, the Sony NW kind.
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:30, archived)
# I too have Sony NW thing
but Sonicstage is gayer than itunes by miles
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:47, archived)
# The one with a stylus and a heeeuge horn!
They're ACE!

They do look nice.

# get a creative or a sony
iPods are a bit over rated in my opinion
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:37, archived)
# I like the way they look though
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:38, archived)
# there are plenty of sexy looking mp3 players out there
but theres more to portable music than just iPods

have a look at the Monolith, iRiver, new sony lovelyness, Creative Zen
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:44, archived)
# I just looked them up
You are right. Thanks very much. :)
(, Thu 1 Jun 2006, 9:48, archived)
# They are all crap.
-Monolith looks like a Brick/Dictaphone ... Bricktaphone!
-iRivers are ugly as fuck and a blatant copy of all things iPod. Plus, their new one, which plays videos, only has 2gb of space .... which is nothing.
-The advert made the sony one seem really small, but it's actually huge. And screenless.
-Creative Zens are huge and also ugly. They look like a melge of an iPod and an iRiver, and it doesn't work.

You can't get better than an iPod. I've had my 1st Gen Mini since they came out ... about 2 years ago, and it hasn't broken once. People who think iPods are overrated just don't know what they're on about, haven't tried using one, or doesn't understand iTunes (because they're total idiots. It's not hard!)
