# Eeeek! That's not good.
Well, think about it in these terms - you could try to blag a new one for Christmas.

It's a plan (of sorts).

Edit: I'm still trying to decide whether the PS3 is actually worth the money ('cos I'm not overly fussed about having a Blu-Ray player, frankly)

but then found it was under special ring of death warranty so its free to fix

# Pain in the rear to have to do the whole 'sending it back to base'
mullarky, though.

Here's to them getting back to you afore the holidays.

# me too
I'm worried that my decision on this is largely dependent on GTA IV

# ^This
But apparently it is also coming out on the 360 so I had the unpleasant idea pop into my head that I might buy microsoft...

# The fate of my 360 rests on the same decision.
When GTA IV comes out, if it's cack, the whole shebang is being sold.

# I wasn't going to
But then my brother came to stay while I was off work and brought his.

One week later and I've done nothing else.

But they're so bloody expensive, it's unreal!

# They've gone down to £300 for the 40gb one.
So they'll drop again next year sometime. I'm hoping they are affordable by the time GTA IV actually gets released.

# I think this, hopefully.
But I'm impatient.

# There will be quite a few people waiting on that game
and I'd be VERY surprised if they didn't know that, so I wouldn't expect the console to get to a reasonable price until the game sales peter off

# I got my PS3
For Gran Turismo (dowloaded the latest demo from Japan last night. That was fun, all those picture-letters) and Metal Gear more than anything.

They're getting to be a good deal now I reckon. Just watch what you get. My 60gb model has actual hardware for playing PS2 and PS1 games inside, instead of emulation stuff the new ones have, so I lucked out.

Plus I like the fact that wireless is built-in, as is Blu-ray (you need to pay extra for both and they're both external on the 360, it all adds up) and the firmware updates are adding more and more interesting things. You can also upgrade the hard drive with any 2.5" HDD you like, and it reinstalls stuff all by itself, without invalidating the warrenty.

And, you need to pay for X-Box Live on the 360, not sure how much, but all online stuff on the PS3 is free too.

# In fact
the new cheap 40 gig ones don't do backward compatability *at all*. not even in software.

# Really?
Jeez. Shows you really need to keep an eye on the specs. All these models are great, but they are difficult to keep track of!

# I have a seXbOX and it's brilliant
I have a firend with a PS3 and it's also brilliant, but virtually none of the games on the PS3 are native... however, GT5HD will be very good and MGSIV will possibly be the best game ever... so, there you go.

# Sold me Xbox 360 yesterday...
was given a ps2 and some monies back for it too. Too busy running a guild on WoW at the mo to play the thing (was a freebie console so it's all profit :D)

# Depends on the games
frankly, there are few real exclusives on the PS3 at the moment. If any of them is a must-have, then go for it.

Word has it that there are quite a few multi-platform games that go worse on the PS3 than the 360 (eg HL Orange Box)
