My Firefox has just reported that it has been consuming roughly 1.4GB of my system memory. Is this normal? Should I consult a medical professional?

I was working towards a fairly reasonable deadline with a job I had. Two weeks later and I still hadn't done anything towards it, I'd just played Oblivion continuously, so I had to cram 2 weeks work into a couple of days. I played obsessively like that for over a month.
