
Try the 6 bits/12 bites thing, it worked for my pa. I'm not a dietician, my family just come to me for medical advice because I've read some books.

I normally have onions and carrots in just about everything I cook, and a glass of fruit juice, so I'm on 3 already.
Then just a couple of extra veg, it's not too difficult.

I forgot to buy new salt for a while and now I don't bother putting it on much.
A bit of pepper is good on steak but it certainly doesn't need any salt, not unless you've bought the bland tasteless crap they tend to sell in supermarkets.

I just find salt brings out the flavours. Especially on the fat.
