# why are you so against it?
Is it cool to not like him now?
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 11:44, archived)
# What? I don't form opinions based on whether or not they're cool, hex.
I just really don't like his work. I'm heavily involved in the lowbrow art scene, and there are loads of street artists whose work I love - I just find his very obvious, quite unattractive and a bit ham-fisted.

# sorry, I didn't mean to target you personally when I said that
and yeah, I sort of agree, but when given an exhibition room, he's a really very talented installation artist, and I admire him for that.

# Heh, s'fine. :)
And yes, you're right about his installation skills. Quite ironic, really. :D

But yeah, while I do like some of his ideas, I've always found his political angle quite clumsy and unneccesary. He's really not as much of a firebrand as he seems to think.

# Uh?
So you dislike stuff that's very obvious, quite unattractive and a bit ham-fisted?
You must fucking hate it round here!

# I agree
simply don't find him very interesting and never have.
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 11:51, archived)
# looks that way doesn't it..

lets slate someone who makes the streets that little bit less dull..I think it's because he makes money from them now
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 11:46, archived)
# No, no.
I like lots of street art. Just not his.

Other painters make gallerys less dull, but I don't have to like all of those.

And, for the record, I've always said precisely the same about Banksy. I didn't like his work before it was famous, and I don't like it now.

# true..you don't have to like it

it seems to be that ever since he has became 'infamous' and made a bit of cash...it's cool to say you don't like him, that's all I'm trying to say :)
(, Fri 7 Mar 2008, 11:49, archived)
# I suppose so - I don't really know, I haven't spoken to anyone else about him really. :)
But I can imagine what you're saying is very true. People usually like to have a couple of thousand backers before they go public with an opinino, don't they? :)

# You , sir, are a wise man
sir are a wise manI can safely state this because I have just polled thousands of people and they agree :)

# hmmm
everyone's entitled to opinion even if it's wrong :p

you know if a b3tan even made these kind fo works with photoshop that would be amasing...what are you measuring him against?

don't scribble on a wall.

Oh jesus, I sound like my mum.

# Dunno, but if I caught him spray-painting my house
I'd kick him in the knackers.

that was a close run thing - the 'l' key being next to the 'k' when writing 'kick' - only just noticed before hitting 'post'...
