# ah..
I won't say anything then as it'll just make you m ore angry

# Nah go for it.
I'm calming down due to judicious application of tea, sarnie, b3ta and a joyous hour to myself.

# exactly the kind of muppet that gets promoted to their level of incompetance
and ends up on 70.. 80... and more and more K per year while berating the competance of everyone who actually does the work

and then there's the fucknuggets doing postgrad business stuff and they can barely tie their own shoelaces without electrocuting themselves

# I've got no degree
no nothing, just a pointless NVQ, some A levels and a lot of experience (although am still quite a rarity in our firm, management do tend to be quite a bit older than myself and two other girls on my team).

You're right though, give him a few years and he'll be on four times the salary I am.

# c'est la vie, innit
if you can, I'd advise getting a degree, to anyone really

it makes a somewhat arbitrary difference

# Yeah, the day I can afford to take time off to do it
is probably the day I retire anyway.

Eventually I'll go part time, hopefully, and go and do my Anthro degree.

# Not really.
It's quite windy there. It'll keep you cool. Well, cooler than the 45 degree inferno of a couple of miles inland.

He got a first class honours degree no less...

He is a spud.

I sympathise deeply.

# Well...
it's difficult though. They're theoretically got a bit of paper that says they can do something...

Thing is, I've got a music degree, but there are untrained musicians out there a squillion times better than I am...

Paper. It makes no sense.
(, Wed 23 Apr 2008, 12:16, archived)
# Hang on,
Right, now I've got a bit of paper saying that I've got a degree. I'm going to go and waggle it at my boss until she pays me a decent amount.

# Keep us posted on the results.
I predict a salary boost of between 10-100%

# This sort of thing is exactly why I quit permanent work.

I'm sick and tired of having to deal with people that are an utter waste of biomass and yet think that because they're a manager, they're somehow more important than people that actually do the work.
People that think that managing is a skill are fuckwits. Dealing with other people is exactly what humans are fucking well evolved to do. It's the whole point of being human. And yet these people think that going on a course or whatever makes them some sort of fucking people genius.

The sad news is that the contract market is dead, so I might just have to go back to permanent work again. :( *sobs*

Meh, it's just a job. Means to an end.
