it failed because:
It didn't support DVDs
It was very hard to copy games
If it weren't for those two things, it would have been huge.

Shops were actually advising people against Dreamcast in favour of PS2.
I'd say the PSOne was a superb console as well. People look down on the Sony systems because of their stigma, but beyond your Tomb Raiders there were shitloads of great, innovative titles.
But yes, SNES best so far.

Back in the day when games where fun.
Actually, this is partly why I like the 360 - the downloadable games are proper classics
