We have been doing it for thousands of years.
Throwing away the bad plants etc.
Tomatoes didn't just appear as they are, gardeners deliberately cross-pollinated them.

actually all DNA
is more or less the same
so the fish DNA in plants is the same as cross-breading plants with other plants.
