# Because /board is being so slow: DIY thread!
I made a fing! It was the first time I've tried countersinking, and I don't think I did too badly. The top storey isn't fixed in place; it sits in place with dowels and sockets and gravity, in case I need to pop it off.

CFB, 100kb each.

It serves an esoteric purpose - I built it specifically to house my laptop (dead screen'd, so it only needs to open wide enough for me to get at the touchpad and the power button) and a keyboard (which controls the laptop, PS2 or PS3 depending on what it's connected to), as I wanted to keep them off the floor.

'Ning! Have you made a fing? Show me your fing.

# Oooooh, cool.
I put together a massive wardrobe, a bed, and two bedside tables the other week. I didn't make them myself, though. Ikea did.

# How many parts were missing?
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:00, archived)
# None! I was pleasantly surprised.

# I think all my bedroom furniture is Ikea.
They rock.

# Then stick a bit of folded cardboard under the leg, that'll stop it
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:02, archived)
# Not if you put it under the wrong leg :)

# it's a well made wooden fing!
I have made many fings, I'll take a bit of a squiz and see if I can get pictures.

# Nice!
Royal Mail are a bunch of fuckers. They didnt ring my sodding doorbell and just presumed I was out and now Ive got to wait to get my parcel delivered.... cunts

and now I can get it til wednesday!!!

CUNTS!

# Ouch!
Sloppy gits, i'm sure you'll feel sympathetic when they declare their next strike over safety issues in the staff canteen or some such bollocks
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:09, archived)
# or they will just close every single branch so you wont be able to get anything delivered and the whole country will go to a standstill
Im royally pissed about this, as im at work 9-5 weekdays, hence the paying extra to get it delivered today!
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:11, archived)
# Grrrrr.
Sometimes ours do that, and sometimes they just leave the parcel on the doorstep where anyone could nick it.

# My house has 3 fucking floors
If im not on the bottom one, that obviously means im not in.....
Fucking royal mail can fuck right off

# They're too fucking lazy to ring the doorbell and wait for people to sign the thing.
They probably round up homeless people and make them write the "you were out" cards, so they don't even have to do that.
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:10, archived)
# they've done something similar to me before...
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:17, archived)
# haha!
The cunts!
I am most pissed because I paid an extra 7 whole pounds for delivery today and they didnt even botehr jamming it in the letterbox.
And they havent even bothered to fill in anything on the back of the "Sorry im a lazy cunt and thought you were out" card
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:20, archived)
# Yesterday a postie rang the doorbell to hand me a parcel that he could have easily pushed through the letterbox.
Gimp.

# SCIENCE
What on earth is it though?
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:16, archived)
# It has sensors in it to measure the orientation of the foot,
and the bits of string are so you can make it perform certain movements, and see how it moves in other axis as a result.
The other explanation is: foot puppetry.
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:19, archived)
# Yay to things involving bits of string!
Bits of string will be there at the end of days and time, with mice

# I also used a piece of guttering,
some corrugated plastic from my supervisors coldframe and vast amounts of insulating tape.
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:24, archived)
# Don't even go there with the insulating tape
life as we know it evolves around insulating tape, it's absence would be to terrible to contemplate

I can smell my breakfast..laters :)

does it detect gay feet?

it was for a plasma immersion ion implantation experiment. Read about it here:

# Is it sort of like a Faraday cage?
It reminds me of a wee rat cage my mum and I made out of chicken wire so I could carry my rodents to the vet in it.
(, Sat 23 Aug 2008, 11:35, archived)
# yes and no
it's an equipotential surface and it is not to supposed to have a field inside of it. (Like a Faraday cage)

Interestingly, the experiment suggested otherwise...

I haven't the shelf space for all my CDs (I'd estimate I have nearly as many as you), so I keep all the cases in a cupboard and the discs themselves in two giant disc wallets.
