edit: It's just like a regular eraser except with some kind of jitter on for me, is there some better way of using it?

# it depends on how equal the background is
but changing the sensitivity helps much, and also alternating between continuous and non-continuous

# Choose the 'Sampling once' icon from the toolbar
then alt+click on background colour you want to erase.
seems to work quite well.
edit: turn tolerance down first though.
