# HELLO I HAVE A QUESTION
Anyone know anything about painting tshirts?
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:18, archived)
# You get a t-shirt
You paint it. Don't put it in the wash without putting it in the oven first.

What did you want to know?
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:24, archived)
# I want to paint a playing card design onto a white tshirt
do i really need very expensive paint?
what goes wrong?
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:25, archived)
# do you mean like the backs of the cards or
the ace of spades?

if the ace of spades i'd buy 4 bubblejet printer tranfers and cut them out...
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:29, archived)
# front and it's the king and jack of hearts
what are the transfers (i don't have a bubblejet printer though)
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:31, archived)
# you can take your design to qwik copy (or similar) and they will print it out for you.
or there are places on the web
google fabric tranfers...

these are the transfer thingies

# you can buy iron-on transfer paper at most office supply-type shops
and if you don't have access to a decent printer you can go to kinkos
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:35, archived)
# Do you have a craft shop chain in Oz?
Sort of place you can get hold of watercolours, cross-stitch, beads, that kind of thing?

You can get hold of various sorts of paints and pens for t-shirt work, or there are transfer kits you can get so you can do the design on the PC and iron it onto the t-shirt, but I think they're pricier. Only real problem is when you get to the end of two hours' work and smudge it ;)

# ok thanks all for the advice
i've been googling and will consider options...
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:41, archived)
# I saw you could get t-shirt tranfer paper in Staples
I guess you print them out and iron them on, or something.
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:25, archived)
# probably a bit small I want most of the front of the shirt painted
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:27, archived)
# You can print all the parts of the design on separate pieces and then use the magic of scissors and being careful to achieve your goal
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:33, archived)
# can I draw on them rather than print, beacuse all I have is a laser printer
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:35, archived)
# KINKOS, MOTHERFUCKER. DO YOU SPEAK IT?
(, Sun 16 Nov 2008, 8:37, archived)
# Also, if you have your heart set on drawing on a shirt,
just put some cardboard in the middle and buy some permanent markers.

I assumed that you've already considered this option but maybe I was making an ass of u and me.

# HELLO I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO RECOMMEND IRON-ON TRANSFERS
Unless you want to invest in a silk screen, that is.

Iron-on transfers are great - $6 for a decent white shirt and you're laughing.
